KANSAS CITY, Mo.—The Honorary Consul General of Japan in Kansas City, Francis Lemery, thoroughly enjoyed his experience of Shen Yun Performing Arts. “Oh, it’s excellent! Beautiful costumes, beautiful dancing,” he said.

He and his wife attended the last matinee of the classical music and dance company in Kansas City before New York-based Shen Yun travels to Chicago, the next stop on its mid-west tour. The couple saw the performance at the Muriel Kauffman Theatre, on March 30, and spoke to Epoch Times during intermission.

“Through the universal language of music and dance, Shen Yun weaves a wondrous tapestry of heavenly realms, ancient legends, and modern heroic tales, taking you on a journey through 5,000 years of Chinese culture,” according to the company’s website.

“I think it is wonderful; it’s a beautiful, beautiful show. I am happy to be here with my husband to enjoy it,” Ms. Lemery said.

“It’s just a spectacular presentation,” said Hon. Lemery, who explained that “the Japanese government’s foreign ministry appoints Americans in cities that do not have a consulate.”

He was also pleased that the two bilingual emcees introduced and explained each of the 20 or so dance programs.

Of the myths, legends, and literary classics presented through classical Chinese dance, he said, “I really enjoyed the cultural part and then the spiritual part that comes in that’s very, very interesting also.”

The couple happily returned to their seats for the second half.
