HARTFORD, Conn.—The Bushnell, Connecticut’s popular performing arts center, was the venue chosen by the Shen Yun Performing Arts Company to bring their show to Hartford and to people in the area interested in learning about China’s 5,000-year-old history.

Shen Yun’s mission is to bring China’s ancient tales of bravery and modern tales of courage to the world through dance, song, and music.

Mr. Pedeirara, president of an investment firm, bought tickets to the show after having seen advertisements and reading flyers about the show.

He said that the show was “Beautiful—it is just spectacular it should be seen by many people.

“Actually, all the parts have impressed me. I think the last one with the drums [Dragon Springs Drummers] was very nice.”

The unique orchestra played a combination of Western and Chinese instruments and produced a pleasing harmony.

“The sound of the [erhu] … I didn’t know that instrument could make such beautiful music.”

Modern-day people need to see and hear things that are inspirational and harmonious. This show intends to bring hope for the future.

“Definitely, it [listing to something uplifting] will help the heart and the mind to be better, be in a better situation and better shape, and perhaps feel better about the whole situation and about the whole recession and maybe change some mood in an improvement of the whole economic situation.

“It’s [the show is] uplifting, so it makes you feel good.”
