HOUSTON—Shen Yun Performing Arts New York Company opened to a full house in Houston’s Jones Hall for the Performing Arts for the beginning of its 2014 World Tour on Dec. 23.
Investment banker Ms. Connie Taylor attended the performance and was blown away by the presentation of art and culture.
“It’s just wonderful,” Ms. Taylor said. “The meaning of life, the dancing, the entire performance—it’s just an art.”
It’s been eight years since the inception of the New York-based Shen Yun. Established in 2006, Shen Yun has brought together artists from around the world to revive 5,000 years of a divine culture through music and dance.
Ms. Taylor said that through the performance she saw the beauty and wisdom of life, and she hoped it could bring such enlightenment to others as well.
“I think it’s incredible,” Ms. Taylor said.
As Shen Yun’s website explains, China’s deep cultural traditions are contained in classical Chinese dance, which allow the movements to be richly expressive, “such that the personalities and feelings of characters can be portrayed with unparalleled clarity.”
“Everything’s perfect,” Ms. Taylor added of the performers.
“[Shen Yun is] an inner experience,” Ms. Taylor said. “The feeling that’s within just opens up.”
