LONDON—On Sunday, April 10, Shen Yun Performing arts concluded a series of performances at the London Coliseum, bringing the splendour and grandeur of classical Chinese culture to a delighted audience.

Ancient Chinese culture encompasses values such as compassion, loyalty, and kindness that Shen Yun has set out to revive through classical Chinese dance and music, animated hi-tech backdrops, and hundreds of intricate and colourful handmade costumes.

William Lok, the founder of an insurance brokerage company, and his wife Margaret Lok, a retired biochemist, were smiling contentedly as they praised the show during the interval. “It’s different, completely different, its enjoyable,” said Mr. Lok.

“I thought the first scene was quite spectacular,” he continued.

Mr. Lok praised the scenery and the special effects. The animated scenes projected onto the stage backdrop also made an impression on Mrs. Lok. “The flying in the background; that was unbelievable!” she said.

Mrs. Lok said that the music, an original score played on a combination of Western and Chinese instruments, was “very gentle and very nice”.

She was also delighted by the choreography, saying it was “very well done, very clever”.

Shen Yun Performing Arts Touring Company will next perform in The Hague, Netherlands, at the Lucent Danstheater, on April 12 and 14. For more information, visit ShenYunPerformingArts.org
