KAOHSIUNG, Taiwan—Shen Yun Performing Arts International Company completed its performances in Kaohsiung on April 10. Mr. Hou Jiancai, president of Ablytek Co. Ltd, was in the audience with his wife.
“This has been the best show we have ever seen,” he said after the show. “The only regret is that the number of shows is not enough!”
In a follow-up telephone interview, Mr. Hou expanded on his observations about Shen Yun.
“The show went beyond my original expectations. It incorporates many diverse elements of the arts. The coordination of the stage setting, backdrop, and audio-video effects is so nice. I have never experienced anything like it before. I was stunned by the show as soon as it started!”
New-York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts is the world’s foremost classical Chinese dance and music company. Shen Yun seeks to revive and restore China’s 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture, including the spirit and values of the culture.
Mr. Hou said he had been paying close attention to the techniques and artistic expressions adopted by Shen Yun. He stressed that Shen Yun’s combination of music, dances, and sound effects is outstanding and unique.
Shen Yun’s original music scores particularly touched him: “I really enjoyed the profuse melody delivered through their masterly skills. This part alone has made me feel that Shen Yun is the best show we have ever seen.”
When he heard that Shen Yun had been able to draw a full house to each of its seven shows in Kaohsiung, Mr. Hou said he was surprised that a cultural and art performance could draw so many theatergoers in the Kaohsiung area.
“If I had watched the show earlier, I would have brought my mother to the show,” he said. “I believe all of my family members will love the show.”
“My mother is old, and it is not convenient to travel far to other counties or cities to see the show. The number of shows in the Kaohsiung area is not enough.” He concluded, “Well, there are still many opportunities ahead in the future.”
Mr. Hou’s company Ablytek Co. has a vision of protecting the environment. The company specializes in the design and manufacture of products using solar energy.
