VIENNA, Austria—Mr. Harbich, chief accountant from Vienna, has seen the Shen Yun Performing Arts show for the second time.
The New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts Company has performed in Vienna two years in a row and has again been welcomed with open arms in 2009.
“I was so deeply impressed with the show last year that I asked friends to come and enjoy the show with me this year. I wanted them to see it with me,” Mr. Harbich said, happy that the show had come back to Vienna.
This Sunday afternoon, Ms. Lepper, Ms. Rebitschek, and Ms. Weippl, accompanied Mr. Harbich to the show. When asked how they all liked the show they said in unison:
“He told us the truth! It was a feast for eyes and ears.”
When asked if he had some special connection with China or some kind of special interest, because he had already seen the show last year, Mr. Harbich said: “I had heard about the show from friends.”
Ms. Weippl also added, “We learned about Falun Gong during a wellness fair in Vienna’s suburb Neustadt [New Town]. We watched a performance and also were given a newspaper and learned that the practitioners of this practice are persecuted in China, and that it is banned. So, we knew about it beforehand,” she explained.
The four of them loved the dance scenes, the songs, and the entire show.
“Very good, wonderful! Also the texts were very interesting.” By ‘the texts,’ they referred to the translations of the songs displayed on the 3-D backdrop and through the introduction by the two hosts.
“Yes, there is a message. For me, the message is redemption. It tells me to practice it, to have love [for ones compatriots], and be without hatred and without being vicious,” Mr. Harbich shared, looking thoughtful.
Ms. Weippl wanted to continue Mr. Harbich’s thought and said, “For me, what I understood was salvation and reincarnation. This thing speaks to me, and it is completely in line with our thinking.”
Mr. Harbich agreed with her and added, “Yes, that is it, we are completely convinced about this. And, I must say, what I liked most in the show was that with each and every one of the artists, I get the feeling that they are truly immersed into what they are showing to the audience. Everyone dances with deep feelings and is completely in tune with what he or she is depicting. One can see that. It is completely clear for the audience to see. It comes over quite strongly.”
