Gwyneth Paltrow has signed a record deal worth approximately $900,000 for her debut album with Atlantic Records, according to AOL Music.

The Oscar-winning actress gained fresh attention for her musical talent when she sang “Coming Home” at the Academy Awards recently, a song from her movie Country Strong.

According to the New York Post, a source says the new album will be country pop.

Paltrow’s mother, actress Blythe Danner, spoke about her excitement for Paltrow’s crossover to the music industry in a press conference for Danner’s upcoming movie, Paul, The Huffington Post reported.

“I love it,” Danner said. “She’s been singing since she was a baby, and we used to make up songs in bed at night time, from the time she was born practically, and she‘d be singing and I’d be singing the harmony above a third, and then she‘d go off and do sixths and sevenths and I’d go, ‘What? Where does she hear that?’”

Danner said Paltrow’s foray into music began in 1995 when she played a concertina for the score of a film she was starring in, Jefferson in Paris.

Paltrow, who is married to Coldplay singer Chris Martin, has also sung on Glee as substitute teacher Holly Holiday.

She is due to reprise her role in tonight’s episode of Glee.
