Greece’s largest phone company accidentally cut off the prime minister’s home line, while attempting to cut off a customer who was behind in payments. Greek prime minister, George Papandreou was left without a landline for three days. An employee of the phone company, OTE telecoms, mistyped a digit while performing the disconnect procedure, according to AP.
The company’s chairman has send a letter to Papandreou about the incident. At present, Greece is facing its worst financial crisis in decades. As part of the conditions for a bailout package it received earlier this month from the EU and International Monetary Fund, strong austerity measures are being taken to lower the country’s budget deficit.
