Easy Gravy Recipe With Beef

Ingredients: 1/4 cup butter, 1/4 cup flour, 1 teaspoon onion powder, 2 cups water, 4 teaspoons beef bouillon granules

Combine the water and bouillon in a heat-proof container and heat in a microwave for one minute.

Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat, adding the flour and onion powder and whisking together. Cook for 1 minute, whisking some.

Add the rest to the mixture and stir. Boil, then reduce to a simmer for 1 minute. Via Slow Roasted Italian.

With Turkey

Ingredients: 1/4 cup turkey fat, 1/4 cup flour, 1 cup pan drippings, 1-2 cups broth or water, salt and pepper.
Optional extras: splash of sherry, splash of wine; teaspoon of minced herbs like rosemary, thyme, or sage

Heat up pan drippings then pour in a cup of broth and scrape the bits from the bottom of the pan. Pour the drippings into a measuring cup and put it aside in the fridge.

After 30 minutes, skim off the fat and warm it in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Whisk in flour when it’s hot.

Add the pan drippings and whisk again. Then whisk in half a cup of broth, or until you reach desired consistency. Add salt and pepper and any extras. Via The Kitchn

With Chicken

Ingredients: Chicken juices, 1 tablespoon flour, 250 milliliters chicken stock (or a cube)

Utilize any juices from the chicken and combine it with the flour. Stir it up until you have a paste.

Gradually pour in the chicken stock until the sauce is thickened.

Simmer for two minutes, using a wooden spoon to stir.

Strain into a small saucepan, simmer and season to taste. Add any extra juices from carving the chicken later if you want. Via BBC Good Food.

Without Flour

Ingredients: 1/2 cup stone-ground cornmeal, 1 tablespoon bacon grease or other pork drippings, 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste, 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper, or to taste, 2 to 2 1/2 cups milk or buttermilk

Pour the cornmeal into a cast-iron skillet and cook over medium-high heat until golden-brown, which should take about 5 minutes. Stir in the grease, salt, and pepper.

Stir continuously as you add in the milk in a slow steady stream. Bring to a boil and cook until thickened, or about two minutes. Via Southern Foodways

Stir in more milk if it gets too thick.
