A heartwarming video has captured a thoughtful grandmother sending a creative birthday gift to her grandson who turned 4 in early June.

On June 3, Julia Long, who lives in Moreno Valley, California, created the illusion that the birthday balloons she released from her house traveled all the way to San Antonio, Texas, more than 1,000 miles (1,609 kilometers) away, to her grandson, Denver.

Julia, who has a fear of flying, came up with the amazing idea to show her grandson some love on his birthday.

In the now-viral footage, Julia is spotted singing a happy birthday song along with her other grandchildren on a video call with Denver while releasing the balloons into the air.

To make it look as realistic as possible, Denver’s aunt Kalah, who is a kindergarten teacher, bought the same balloons her mother did and wrote on a green, star-shaped balloon with a black marker: “Denver Happy Birthday. I love you G-son.”

On seeing the balloons outside his house, Denver was overjoyed. The little boy said, “I love you so much, thank you.”

Touched by the sweet gesture, netizens took to the comments section to appreciate the emotional moment.

One social media user wrote: “She’s the best long-distance grandma ever.” While another said: “This is precious there’s nothing grandparents wouldn’t do to make their babies happy.”

A third chimed in: “Teared up, you can hear the love in [grandma’s] voice.”
