Five-year-old Jordan Jones had a beautiful dream last Wednesday about her daddy going to heaven.
“He was in heaven, up in the sky,” she recalled.
Jordan recalled her dream to her mother, Amber Jones, as they stood beside a police cruiser on a roadside in Norfolk, Va., nearby two cars that had collided there minutes earlier, WAVY reported.
Jordan’s dad, Johnathan Jones, had left home just half an hour prior. He went out in his black Hyndai Sonata around midnight because he wanted to get a milkshake from the Sonic fast food restaurant.
Amber thought of joining him together with her 3-week-old newborn and Jordan, but changed her mind because Johnathan would be back in 10 minutes. After 30 minutes, he still had not returned.
Worried, Amber hopped in the car with her children and went looking for her husband. She saw red and blue flashing lights from emergency vehicles on East Little Creek Road. Something came over her and she decided to pull over.
“I gave the police his name and I knew something was wrong when they walked away and brought somebody else back with him,” said Amber.
Jordan told her mom about the dream she had as they waited to hear from police.
“She had a dream that her daddy was with a little girl and said she had to leave us,” said Amber.
Minutes later they found out that husband and father Johnathan had died in the crash.
Norfolk police say that shortly after 1 a.m. a silver Chrysler 200 driving in the wrong direction crashed head-on into Johnathan’s Hyundai Sonata.
The driver of the Chrysler died the scene. She was identified as 39-year-old Hafeeza T. Sawyer.
Johnathan was rushed to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Jordan recalled the story of her dream at home to WAVY reporter Laura Caso.
“Without daddy right here, he needs to be right here with all our family,” Jordan said pointing to an empty spot on the couch.
Young Jordan understands where her daddy is now, according to WAVY, which is a relief for her mom.
“I didn’t know then. I didn’t pay attention to it,” Amber said. “But it gives me some comfort.”
“[I love him] with all my heart and we miss him so much and that’s the end,” said Jordan.
