French Barber Gives Homeless Man Incredible Transformation, and Video Goes Viral

A French celebrity barber has gone viral on TikTok for using his clippers to give a homeless man an astonishing transformation.

David Kodat, cutter of hair and Strasbourg local, posted the makeover on his TikTok channel, @davidkodatofficial.

In the video, he shows before-and-after shots of the homeless man sitting in the barber chair. At first, his worn, wiry gray hair hangs down past his shoulders, wild and unkempt. His long, untrimmed beard makes it difficult to make out the man’s features and expression.

Which makes his transformation all the more impressive. The video went viral with over 20,000 views and 3,210 likes.

TikTok users were amazed by the man’s dramatic change, leaving comments such as, “He is too beautiful, how he has changed,” and, “The hair and the beard change everything.”

“We already saw goodness in his eyes,” wrote another user, referring to the sparkle in the homeless man’s eyes. “But there [afterward] it is even more blatant.”

It’s no wonder TikTok users were so shocked; in the after shot, the man is nearly unrecognizable, with a stately haircut and neatly trimmed beard … a fine, decent, and handsome gentleman after all.

According to Kodat, the smile is the most important part.

“It’s truly enough to give a little happiness to someone,” he wrote on Instagram in May 2019. “A little haircut, some words here and there, and finally, a little smile. A good moment for them so they know they are not forgotten.”

Kodat is known for helping out the homeless by giving them haircuts. In his Instagram posts, he refers to the homeless as “friends,” and often points out the importance of bringing a smile to others.

“A smile costs nothing and produces a lot,” he captioned in another post. “It enriches those who receive it without impoverishing those who give it.”

Instagram users love seeing Kodat helping others, and they commend him for his humanitarian efforts.

“Bravo to you for the smiles you bring and your generosity,” wrote one.

“It’s really super what you do,” shared another.

Kodat has been helping out the homeless with haircuts for a while, and shows no signs of stopping.

In fact, he gave out another haircut on Sunday and later shared a picture of the man’s priceless smile afterward.

“The generous prosper,” Kodat wrote in the caption. “Those who revitalize others will themselves be revitalized.”
