The south of France is where the majestic mountain range of the Alps begins its extreme journey throughout the more eastern countries of Europe. Many might find themselves exploring the north of France, but to switch it up with the family this year, experience the mountains in the south for the ultimate family skiing vacation. Here are just a few of the best ski resorts on the map in France today.

Meribel

With of 600kms of of slopes and located in the world’s biggest inter-linked ski area, the Meribel valley offers a perfect area for skiing. The snow is nearly always guaranteed in season due to its valley location and the same goes for the nearby Val Thorens and the Glacier de Peclet. This spot is idle for families with beginner slopes available, however if your intermediate go ahead down the more challenging slopes.

Belle Plagne
Some of the most attractive slopes in the area are located at the Belle Plagne and it also happenes to be one of the highest resorts. This family-friendly place has the perfect skiing condition for your little ones with gentle runs in all directions. It’s even received the “Family Plus” accreditation for it. There are five lifts in the area to bring you to other beautiful spots like the Plagne Center Bowl and Les Choes.

Peisey-Les Arcs
Although this spot is located near the huge ‘Paradiski’ area, with some of the best chances of guaranteed snow, the Peisey-Les Arcs is a quiet little getaway for an incredible family ski holidays. For another family friendly spot take the well-equipped 4-minute cable car to get you to the magnificent slopes of La Plagne. Or you can take the high-speed chairlift to the Les Arcs area. There is a village that is just a 5 minute walk away that has plenty of charming restaurants, bars, and shops.

La Rosiere
A sweet and sunny spot in the winter slopes of the Tarentaise Valley is a eye-catching getaway for the family in need of some more dramatic skiing. Although beginner slopes are still here your high altitude will heighten the thrill of your descend. Because of the high altitude, you can expect to to have some warm weather while the snow stays out for your wintery fun and adventures.

Val d'Isere
Another high altitude family-friendly resort is waiting for you high up in the French Alps. Charming and attractive, this is one of the world’s most elite resorts on the map. There is skiing for for the whole family, state of the art lifts and equipment, and guaranteed snow for the best family skiing holiday. There is a six month season where the snow is very reliable, especially at the highest peak at Savoie Alps, and the Pissailles and Grande Motte Glaciers as well.
