Enjoy fall with this healthy baked pear recipe, which is flavored by the natural sweetness of the fruit. It is a simple yet elegant dessert. Apples can be used instead of pears.

Baked Pears

Whole pears or apples to fill a 20 cm (8-inch) or 22 (9-inch) baking pan
1 cup water
2 tsp cinnamon or pumpkin spice
?15 stevia vanilla drops or two teaspoons sugar (optional)

Pre-heat oven to 350°F.

Peel enough fruit (keeping the stems on) to fill baking pan with the fruit standing upright. Mix together water, spice, and sugar in the baking pan, making a syrup. Add the fruit, and brush the syrup over the fruit. Cover pan with a lid or foil and cook for 15 minutes. Uncover and brush syrup over fruit twice more, or every 15 minutes until fruit is tender. The fruit should be soft when a fork is inserted into it. Brush the fruit once more with the syrup after removing from the oven. Serve warm or cold with syrup from the pan. Refrigerate.
