TORONTO—Clearly in an exhilarated mood, Japanese painter, Kayoko Tanaka, talked like an art critic when interviewed by The Epoch Times. Ms Tanaka had just finished watching Friday night’s Mid-Autumn Spectacular at Toronto’s John Bassett Theater.

When asked her thoughts about the show she said “The costumes, the dancing, the color mix, the backdrop, and the music — are all so perfectly matched in the show.

“The show is a rich presentation of both simplicity and luxury. It moved me to the core.”

Ms Tanaka’s friends, Dr. Ken Sasaki, director of SGS Canada Inc, and Lu Junting, a writer, could not agree with her more. “Every episode is perfect,” Sasaki said. “I particularly enjoyed the story of Yue Fei, whose mother tattooed the words, ‘Serve the Country Loyally’ on his back to encourage him.”

“I was moved, and learned a lot,” she added.

Sasaki said all the dancers impressed him. “The dancers are talented and beautiful. I can see every movement is well trained,” he said. “I was so touched by their expression that I could hardly hold my feelings.”

Sasaki felt that the music, too, was astounding. “I love the songs, I love the orchestra’s performance, and I love the music!” he said, excitedly. “The musicians are the best! They are from different countries, yet they work perfectly together. They have to be the best!”

Sasaki regretted that his wife did not make it to the show this time. “I really wish she was here, because she’s a pianist. In Japan there are a lot of shows every year, but you can’t see something this amazing there.

“I’m sure all Japanese people would love this show.”

Lu’s favorite was soprano Huang Biru. “Asian sopranos rarely have big voice like Huang’s,” Lu said. “Usually such a voice is heard only from Western singers ... but Huang did that perfectly.

“The strength and control she demonstrated in her voice deeply touched my heart!”

The three friends shared, with the reporter, that they all agreed on the fact that The Divine Performing Arts is the world’s best arts group.
