TORONTO—On Jan. 11, Divine Performing Arts New York Company completed their fifth show at John Bassett Theatre in Toronto. All programs in the show are brand new for the 2009 tour.
Mr. Ouyang, came to Canada from China only a month ago. He remarked that he could not see shows of such quality in China. He said, “A wonderful show with high artistic value. I am delighted to watch these programs.”
Chinese classical dance and ethnic dance are two major aspects of Divine Performing Arts group’s programs-they create first class dances based on traditional culture and stories. Mr. Ouyang expressed his thoughts: “These programs reflect reality which we all have experienced. Every dance touches people’s hearts and truly exhibits the inner meanings of Chinese traditional culture! And the costumes are so attractive and with high artistic design value that touches you deeply.”
Mr. Ouyang felt with deep emotions that being an overseas Chinese he was glad he can watch such a first class performance by Divine Performing Arts group! He said, “I am very happy! I hope they can create more programs for us enjoy.”
Mr. Li and his wife came to Canada from Shenyang four years ago. Mr. Li said that the overall choreography of the entire performance was superb. These programs brought out the characteristics of Chinese culture.
He said, “It ’s not easy to express the Chinese flavor fully, but Divine Performing Arts did.”
Mr. Li felt that all dances are very classically Chinese and there is a story in most of them. “It is wonderful to be able to express Chinese culture and present it on a Western stage, so overseas Chinese can understand traditional Chinese culture.”
Mrs. Li graduated from a conservatory and taught music in the university. She added her comments, “All the costumes are beautiful and becoming, very harmoniously supported by the animated backdrops.”
