TAIPEI, Taiwan—Divine Performing Arts (DPA) International Company staged its Taipei premiere at the Taipei International Convention Center on Feb. 25. In the audience was Lih Rueiguang, under-secretary-general of Taiwan Heart.

Taiwan Heart aims to promote the spirit and vivacity of the island. It has organized events involving the World Trade Organization; also health, tree conservation, and education events.

Mr. Lih particularly enjoyed the Chinese classical dance in the performance. He said that the performers were like fairies dancing on the stage.

He said that the performance was very “stunning,” particularly the program Dance of the Yi. The girls in colorful dresses seemed to be blooming flowers, every gesture was very natural. “It didn’t seem to be humans dancing up there. It was like heavenly beings performing on stage,” he said.

As for the whole performance, he said, “The men had a kind of strength, while the ladies seemed to be traveling between clouds and water.”

Mr. Lih said that when the temptress was trying to lure the monk in the program The Monkey King Triumphs, the push and pull movements were coordinated very well. The attacking and resisting movements were also well-balanced during the fight between Monkey King and the temptress, who transformed from a demon. It was interesting.”
