TAIPEI, Taiwan—Cao Fuyong, a Peking opera master and manager of National Taiwan Theater Company, arrived at the Taipei International Convention Center on Feb. 27 to attend Divine Performing Arts (DPA) International Company’s 2009 World Tour.

On watching the show for the third year, Mr. Cao said, “DPA has always shaken my world. There was this feeling of being cleansed, particularly after watching the program Dragon Springs Drummers. I think the program manifested strength and beauty. It seemed very lively and vivacious. The entire story, the whole show beautified, purified, enlightened, and contained a very real truth.”

The Dragon Springs Drummers features a group of lively drummers displaying their demanding aerial work and octagonal drum beats.

“It is remarkable for men to dance. That dance was very symbolic. The program itself was very persuasive. Tonight it was cleansing and enjoyable. I felt like I finished a shower. I am liking this show more. Most importantly were the dancers’ fundamentals and speed. That’s why tonight’s performance was unique. This performance has very high artistic value.

“The costumes’ colors were matched exquisitely, making the entire picture rather harmonious. It looked comfortable and smooth.”

The Poet’s Vision, depicting one of China’s most celebrated poets, Li Bai of Tang Dynasty.

“Through Li Bai, a message was conveyed. ... It delivered a sense of poetry, dance, and delicacy. The audience members could witness dance, history, poetry, songs, and music. It was interesting. It is an art that is endlessly enjoyable.

“Just with several sentences [the lyrics], [the vocalists] conveyed profound thoughts.

“The program Heaven Awaits Us Despite Persecution was also extremely touching. Actually, we need to have such firm belief. We should never be scared, there’s nothing to be afraid of. We need to stand up tall. As long as our thoughts are upright, the truth will eventually prevail.”
