NEW YORK—A former opera singer from France, Ms. Seban, was lucky enough to be visiting New York during the Divine Performing Arts Chinese New Year Splendor shows at Radio City Music Hall. She was impressed by the singing and said it was the music that made the show unique for her.

‘The soprano is wonderful, and the contralto has a very loud voice, very unique,” she said.

The vocal soloists of Divine Performing Arts are elite, highly-acclaimed singers who perform throughout the year on some of the world’s top stages. The Chinese New Year Splendor sees sopranos and tenors with piano accompaniment sing impassioned arias that give voice to the deepest of spiritual longings as well as to hopes that have shaped Chinese culture for centuries.

“Perfect, it’s perfect,” Ms. Seban said. “Everything is wonderful, full of grace and it’s magic. I like it very much.”

She particularly liked the harmonization of all aspects and, to her, the show symbolized purity.

Classical Chinese dance is a unique tradition. In its early stages it was passed down through members of the imperial court and as part of ancient theater. Over the years, the dancers refined it to arrive at the system of Chinese classical dance practiced today. It is part of the divinely inspired heritage that is China’s five-millennia-old culture.

“The dancers are good, and I cannot criticize it. It’s a great show.”
