SAN FRANCISCO—Mr. Yeh, President of the National Council of Associations of Chinese Language Schools , and his wife went to see the Divine Performing Arts (DPA) show at the San Francisco Opera House on January 8. They had seen the DPA show for three years in a row, and this time they were once again blown away by the show.

Mr. Yeh said that the way the DPA restores traditional Chinese culture via dance and music is very straightforward and meaningful.

Mr. Yeh thought the dance movements were very beautiful, and that every program was great and carried deep meaning. In particular, in Monk Ji Gong Abducts the Bride, in order to save villagers from being buried by a mountain slide, monk Ji Gong tried desperately to remove the villagers from disaster, but they believed him to be crazy, and ignored him. He eventually resorted to abducting a bride, and hence lured villagers out of the village so that they were not hit by the disaster.

The DPA show also includes several popular and famous Chinese historical legends and stories, like The Poet’s Vision and The Monkey King Triumphs. Mr. Yeh said that the DPA show displayed five thousand years of traditional Chinese culture, and demonstrated the noble character, goodness, sincerity, and tolerance of the Chinese people.

Mr. Yeh also said that the ethnic dance was colorful and beautiful, which made it very unique and refreshing. He said that the exquisite and creative stage design, the stunningly beautiful backdrop, and the live orchestra worked together to present the deep and profound Chinese culture to foreigners. In the theater Mr. Yeh heard an American say that he had seen the show four times in Chicago, and he booked to see this one as well.

He commented that it was extraordinary that the performers could express the meaning of different stories through performance, costumes, and stage design, and that the audience were able to catch on to it easily.

Founded in 1994, NCACLS has been dedicated in promoting Chinese language and culture, and has made good progress in improving the quality of Chinese language schools over the years. Currently, NCACLS has about 100,000 students in 47 states in the United States.
