PASADENA, Calif.—A manager of a renowned EMI record company, Ben Fernandez, became emotional after seeing the Divine Performing Arts (DPA) 2009 World Tour presentation held at Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Los Angeles on Jan. 2, 2009.

The segment, Knowing the True Picture Offers Ultimate Hope depicting a story of salvation, pulled on his heartstrings.

“Its particular presentation had an emotional element—hope, faith, all the things you need to do with your life, all these mixtures of feeling you have within yourself—I am a bit emotional, it was very good.”

He praised the DPA for “a wonderful job” and for keeping traditional Chinese culture alive for all the world to see.

“Many dancers not only brought the choreography and the color out, but also the meaning of what Chinese people believe in.”

Mr. Fernandez also appreciated the different kinds of music from the soloists that could be heard.

“It brought a different meaning to the whole program,” he said. “Unfortunately, it is not in our tradition for us to just sit down here and visualize a little tiny percentage of what the culture of China is. I wish we could see it over and over, and every night it would be a different presentation.”

Philip Bowling, accompanying Mr. Fernandez, said “everything is so mystical about China.

“They are losing their traditions over there, so it is wonderful that you can capture that and maintain it, and retain it, and mold it so that future generations, especially kids, can see this beautiful culture of China.”

Mr. Bowling said he was a fan of cultural events and when he saw the montage on television advertising the DPA performance, and read the information he had to come, he said.

As for next year’s performance he said: “You had better keep a seat for me! I definitely will come back. It’s just a very small percentage of what the Chinese culture is about, so I am sure every year will be different, the color, the girls, the [cherry] blossoms. It was beautiful, it is just beautiful.”
