PASADENA, Calif.—Associate director of a law firm, Ms. Mosquero says she would definitely recommend the Divine Performing Arts Chinese New Year Spectacular to her friends.

She saw the performance at Pasadena Civic Theater with her family, who were “loving it.”

“It has a lot of wisdom, very meaningful,” Ms. Mosquero said.

She said she enjoyed all of the show, and favored the feminine dances a little more than the male dances. “There’s a lot to it—the language is very complex. It’s been a great performance.”

Awe-Inspiring Costumes

Business owner Mr. Awad enjoyed the music and the singing, but found the costumes awe-inspiring. “A lot of work was done, a lot of planning, you could tell, ”he said.

Impressed with pictures worth a thousand words, and a range of themes, he said; “I thought it was really nice to be able to see that, because it actually gave you a better picture of what they were trying to present.”

Mr. Awad said he had many dealings in China, but had never seen anything like the divinely-inspired DPA show. The company is based in New York. Chinese classical dance is a unique art form dating back millennia.

“It gives us a good look at Chinese culture, I think some of the words are very deep, spiritual-type words in the songs. I have never seen anything like this, so it is very interesting.”

Enjoyable, Entertaining, Educational

Mr. Nezworski, a retired teacher, was asked to summarize the show in a few words. “Two or three words. That’s hard. It’s very enjoyable, entertaining, I liked the costumes. I think I’m learning more about Chinese culture.”
