NEW YORK—The Divine Performing Arts (DPA) is performing four shows at the famed Radio City Music Hall this weekend with its performance of the Chinese New Year Splendor—a celebration of traditional Chinese culture.

Mr. Derik, a public speaker and youth advocate, hosts a show intended for New York theater performers was among the audience on Saturday Jan. 24. He has become a youth advocate speaking out against big business that profit at the expense of kids.

He shared his thoughts on the show: “It was absolutely breathtaking precision as far as the dancers. I see a lot of Broadway shows. Those shows kind of pale by comparison. Don’t tell anyone I said that.”

“Everything seems so natural. They’re not looking to the next dancer to see what’s the next step.”

DPA strives to present the genuine culture of humanity that was brought to earth by higher lives. It aims to show artistic beauty in a way that cherishes moral character.

Mr. Derik found this particular show unique and authentic.

“The only word that comes to mind is genuine. You know it looked like everyone knew each other for such a long time up there. When you’re doing a show on Broadway, you meet your cast a week before and let’s go on stage ... you see what I’m saying. It looks like everyone has known each other for years and years and years up there. They look like a big family up there.”

He believes that the Divine Performing Arts performance has a strong message.

“I think it’s telling the audience that there is a truth. Don’t be afraid to go towards it and it’s not going to tell you a line that it’s going to be easy. But no matter what trials and what tribulations might come, there is a truth and you should go towards it no matter what.”

Mr. Derik was also struck by the fact that the show seemed genuinely non-commercial.

“Most shows in New York are run by tourists. Tourist companies. They’re a commercial business. This is the least commercial show I have ever seen since I’ve been here. And I’ve been here for years.”

Mr. Derik noticed that the performers have a deep bond with each other. He believes that it is because of this that the show is presented without any regard for personal benefit on the part of the performers and organizers.

“I think it’s the family. It didn’t seem like they were selling something. In the beginning there were some words that came across the screen that said we’re not benefiting from this. It was in a song in Chinese. So I was reading from the screen and it said this is no benefit to us, we’re telling you to benefit you. Instead of buy this, help us get rich, kind of thing. Very non-commercial. Find your higher self for you. And the only thing I am getting out of it is literally helping you. Very selfless.”
