MONTREAL, Canada—Two professional dancers took delight in Divine Performing Arts’ third show at Place des Arts.

“I just love the precision and the togetherness of the movements. Their flexibility, their timing, balance—it’s amazing. I loved it, the tumbling…. it’s just a fantastic show,” said Ms. Brown the director of a dance school in downtown Montreal.

“You can see that they are very passionate of what they do and they put their heart and their soul into everything... They must, it is so perfect, they must, they couldn’t do it otherwise.”

Her friend and professional ballroom dancer, Mr. Maron, was also impressed by the dancers of Divine Performing Arts.

“I though the balance was extraordinary of many of the people and they all seemed to act as one. Their precision was extraordinary and they had several experiences where it was like a wave and they did it very well. Obviously they are very well rehearsed and it’s grand.”

Mr. Maron said he also appreciated the show’s innovative use of animated backdrops.

“The scenes are really beautiful,” he said. “It’s very exciting; it’s very exciting to see like a sampling of the different kinds of things.”

Mr. Maron said the dancers’ artistic souls come through in the dancing, but it was almost difficult for him to pick out a single dancer’s achievement because there were so many people on stage performing at such a high level.

“I sort of see it as all as one,” he said.

“It was curious, they mentioned Buddhism and I saw that there was the transformation that was sort of embodied in the sort of the example of how death can really be a rebirth and I thought that was done beautifully.”

Mr. Maron was referring to one of the show’s most popular dances: Heaven Awaits Us Despite Persecution. The dance tells the tale of a father who is persecuted for practicing Falun Gong. The fantastic scenes that ultimately unfold in this piece present a message of hope and bespeak of a longstanding Chinese belief that good people are ultimately rewarded, even if not in this lifetime.

“The scene in the back where they kind of going up to the heavens, they made that look like divine. Like the dancers are coming straight from the divine,” added Ms. Brown.

Mr. Maron said that particular scene was very powerful and sad, but ultimately very beautiful.

Divine Performing Arts will stage its last show in Montreal on Sunday before moving on to New York’s famed Radio City Music Hall. For more information visit DivinePerformingArts.org
