ROCHESTER, N. Y.—Divine Performing Arts (DPA) successfully kicked off it first show at Rochester Auditorium Theatre on the afternoon of Feb. 21. The superb arts and performances, combined with the great and profound traditional Chinese culture have touched audiences worldwide.

Xiaoli and her husband John accepted an Epoch Times interview after the show. Xiaoli said this was the first time they watched the show, and she had very strong reactions. She suddenly broke into tears and cried on John’s arm after saying, “The performance was very, very good. I am so touched.”

Introducing herself as a mainland Chinese who arrived in America five years ago, Xiaoli told the reporter that although she has immigrated to America, she still feels rooted in China, and the show reminded her of home.

Xiaoli said, “The sincerity and beauty of those actors’ hearts. My heart was deeply touched by every song in the show.”

She also said that she understood the message delivered by the show: “Always treat others in good faith even in hard times.”

Mr. Li, a scientist from China, was also in the audience. He said that he has watched the show more than once “because it is so good. I just want to come back and see it again. It’s a memory that lingers a long, long time.”

Mr. Li said he was particularly impressed by the program Heaven Awaits us Despite Persecution—a story about a Falun Gong practitioner who adheres to his belief under torture.

He described the program as, “a beautiful [dance] that moves your heart. The story about the persecution used the language of dancing to express [this] to the fullest. It is very moving. ... You could not help but cry. I think it’s remarkable. History will remember them. It’s just remarkable.

“You may say this is a cultural renaissance. I believe whoever sees the performance will be touched. Genuine traditional Chinese culture about Buddhas, Taos, and gods is very good. They are very nice.

“The Chinese CCTV’s Spring Festival Gala contains no true culture. I have not seen it for many years. It does not represent Chinese culture. Instead, it signifies a degenerate culture. Therefore, I will not even go near it.”
