LONDON—At a sold-out performance on the final night of Shen Yun Performing Arts in London, the appreciative audience gave the performers a standing ovation as they took their bows during the third curtain call.

In addition to solo vocal performances, the mainstay of Shen Yun, playing at the New London Theatre in their seventh show, is its exposition of Chinese classical dance.

“The dances were impressive and also the cultural experience overall,” commented Mr. Machado, managing director of a London-based company.

“It was a very good orchestra. The singers as well!

“I was surprised by the quality, even as an opera fan.

“It’s good to have this message,” he said, referring to the performance of Heaven Awaits Us Despite Persecution, a dance that depicts the persecution of those who practise Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline which is banned in China. “If you don´t discuss certain issues you don´t get anywhere.”

The message also was received by Mr. Machado’s wife. She was amazed by what she had seen and said it was “just so beautiful.” “I liked it very much and was especially taken by the dances and the orchestra.”

Accompanying Mr. and Mrs. Machado at the New London Theatre was Mr. Cohen, a London-based Lawyer.

“What I liked are the colour and the movements,” he said.

“The women are very elegant and the men very brave. This is the way of the East, isn´t it?”
