LONDON—It was once again a full house at the New London Theatre in the West End when Shen Yun Divine Performing Arts (DPA) 2009 World Tour performed its fifth London show on Friday, March 6. With its unique portrayal of Chinese traditional culture, it once again wowed an appreciative audience.

Among them was Dr. Zena Miscony, who runs her own real estate company that specialises in commercial investments, and she also works with an overseas government on healthcare.

She took the time at intermission to comment on the first half of the show, saying, “It’s brilliant, beautiful, very artistic, very creative, fantastic costumes, and beautiful choreography.”

DPA’s choreography ranges from grand imperial processions to legions of thunderous drums, with gorgeously costumed dancers moving in stunning synchronized patterns.

Dr. Miscony went on to say, “I think it’s the combination of everything, and the music. And the opera singers, the two opera singers, the gentleman and the lady were both also excellent.”

Sopranos and tenors with piano accompaniment sing impassioned arias that give voice to the deepest of spiritual longings and to hopes that have shaped Chinese culture for centuries.

Dr. Miscony also had high praise for the DPA orchestra, saying, “Fantastic orchestra. The music is very good, beautifully written, beautifully delivered.”

The DPA orchestra brings together two of the world’s greatest classical music traditions, Chinese and Western, in a masterful fusion. With Western instruments as its base, the orchestra brings out Chinese musical flair through a variety of Chinese instruments. All of the music the 40-plus member orchestra plays is original, and is composed to fit each dance.

She concluded by saying that she was enjoying the show very much. This was the second time that Dr. Miscony had come to see DPA, each time also bringing her parents, and she was sure that they would all be going again next year.
