HOUSTON—Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee, representative for Houston, was in the audience at the Jesse H. Jones Hall for the Performing Arts viewing the performance by the Divine Performing Arts (DPA) on Dec. 23.

She has been hailed by Ebony magazine as one of the “100 Most Fascinating Black Women of the 20th Century.”

Congresswoman Jackson-Lee was very touched by her first experience of a DPA performance and wanted to express her appreciation

“It’s a performance that everyone around the world should see. I had a wonderful opportunity at Jones Hall in Houston … to see for the first time Divine Performing Arts.”

She had a glimpse into Chinese culture, which she found universally educational: “The audience was able to see so many different aspects of Chinese culture. It was beautiful, it was fluid, it was rich.”

“If you just look at it as entertainment, it is extremely entertaining, but it is also very educational. It is for families, it’s for children, it is for schools, and universities, because it does help to preserve this wonderful diverse culture of China.”

“As I listened to the audience response it was fabulous in their excitement and their enjoyment. I congratulate all of the artists who performed in the Divine Performing Arts.”
