CUPERTINO, Calif.—The Divine Performing Arts (DPA) International Company’s Chinese New Year Spectacular enthralled the audience tonight at the Flint Center for the Performing Arts in Cupertino on Wednesday, Jan. 14.

Mr. Zimmerman, an account executive in sales, has been a performer for 34 years, specializing in traditional dance from Bavaria, Austria, Russia, and the Ukraine. After watching the DPA performance, he was amazed by what he saw. “It was unbelievable, fantastic. The nature of the quality of the dancers, they’re just fantastic.”

Zimmerman, who was full of excitement about the performance, gave DPA the highest compliment by saying that he wants his dance colleagues to see it. And by seeing it they will become better performers, he expressed.

“The togetherness of the dancers, no matter how difficult the dance was, they made it look easy,” Zimmerman said. “It’s also exciting which is good for the audience. We usually pay attention more, and the beauty of all the dances. They move so smoothly.”

“Solid technique, very solid,” he stated. “I was trained by a lot of top dancers from Russia, so I can tell they have had a lot of great training.” One of Mr. Zimmerman’s instructors currently teaches for the San Francisco Ballet.

“The excitement that they put across to the audience causes the difference between somebody just performing and somebody being outstanding,” Zimmerman explained.

“That is how they inspire the audience, their energy is coming from themselves, performing to the audience, and that means they have accomplished something that a performer should accomplish.”

Although he loved the dancing most because of his background, he was most appreciative of the live orchestra and the breathtaking digital backdrops. He felt that both these enhanced each performance.

“Because all dances tell a story with the backdrop, the story is more complete because you get the feel of where you are be it in the city, by the river or the mountains, whatever it makes that come more true to life.”

“And the other great thing, I have seen many wonderful dance groups over the years, and now this goes up to the top.”
