“I am very interested in Chinese culture and Chinese language so this was a great present.“ She said the choreography and the colors stood out the most in her mind but she also learned much more about the traditional Chinese culture and the relation with the divine through the movements. ”Everything is so meaningful, and I like the spirituality in the dances and in the message.”
‘I just wanted to reach out and touch it’
Mr. and Mrs. Bodcin, both in sales, from Mundelein Illinois, had some wonderful things to say about the show.
Mr. Bodcin said it was very colorful and very lively.
He said he was interested in the dance that dealt with oppression, “I think it was the group’s way of showing how the Communist party, that’s in power, has undermined the cultural aspects of the Chinese people.”
Mrs. Bodcin enjoyed the cultural content of the show and the costumes, particularly the use of silk in the clothes, “I just wanted to reach out and touch it.”
She also liked the way the background projected images interacted with the characters, seemingly appearing on stage from the screen.
The DPA New York Company will hold one more performance in Chicago, the final performance is at 2 p.m. Sunday Dec. 28
