The Buhler’s group included family members and friends from Wisconsin, but had a distinctly international cast, including two students from the Ukraine, one from Poland, one from Moldova, and one from Germany. The Buhlers have sponsored exchange students for five years.

CHICAGO—Mr. and Mrs. Buhler of Racine, Wisconsin, saw Divine Performing Arts last year in Chicago and loved it. This year they brought 19 of their closest friends with them back to Chicago to see the show on Sunday afternoon, and the entire group was very enthusiastic for DPA.

Mrs. Buhler had the idea of bringing their friends to the show because she thinks it is “a wonderful way to introduce Chinese culture.”

She says she “likes everything: the costumes, the dancing, the subjects, and the music.”

Mr. Buhler, who is general manager of a food processing company, believes in reciprocating a good turn. He says that, “You could hear that our group applauded the loudest. We loved the show. I believe that you have to acknowledge what others do. The audience should reward the performers for everything they have done.”

The moral dimensions of the show appealed to Buhler most: “I liked how the higher tendencies in people triumphed over the lower tendencies.”

He felt there was a connection between the perfection of the physical movements in the show and its overall effect: “In the end, the show brings me peace. The beautiful physical movements and the music are very balanced. They are harmonious and so they induce inner harmony. The show is very peaceful and very beautiful.”

He particularly liked the dances Persecuted on a Sacred Path and The Monkey King Triumphs.

The Buhler’s group included family members and friends from Wisconsin, but had a distinctly international cast, including two students from the Ukraine, one from Poland, one from Moldova, and one from Germany. The Buhlers have sponsored exchange students for five years.

Mr. Gira is the exchange student from Moldova. He singled out the show’s music and live orchestra as his favorite part.

Mrs. Buhler says she looks forward to bringing a larger group to next year’s show.
