ANTWERP, Belgium—The Divine Performing Arts (DPA) 2009 World Tour opened at the Stadsschouwburg, famous for musical shows, in the city center of Antwerpen on Feb. 23.

Mr. and Mrs. Krols watched the highly acclaimed presentation for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed every minute.

“Very well. Very, very well,” the retired chief engineer of a multinational company said.

When asked which dance he liked best, Mr. Krols racked his brain. “The best? That with the flowers, for example,” he said asking his wife.

Mrs Krols was just as bewildered. “Gee, really difficult, I found it all beautiful.”

Chinese ancient culture through classical Chinese dance and music, features world-class performers, stunning costumes and backdrops, powerful drum rhythms, and a full orchestra. Its masterful choreography and graceful routines range from grand processions to ethnic folk dances, with gorgeously costumed dancers moving in synchronized patterns.

Mrs. Krols thought the clothing “really beautiful,” while her husband admired the “tremendous amount of discipline” from the artists.

Mrs. Krols added, “Yes and the people chosen to perform, formidable, they are all nice and slim, and the same height. The training that they must have been through … without the synchronization it wouldn’t be symmetric.”

The couple had no special connection with China, but often visited the popular venues to watch many different shows.

Mr. Krols said the DPA show was their first contact with Chinese culture. “We do love dancing though, at home …” His wife agreed, “We really enjoy dance.” In conclusion, Mr. Krols spoke for the both of them. “For us it was a splendid evening!”
