AARHUS, Denmark—An extended family of 30 people were amongst the audience that welcomed the Shen Yun Performing Arts show in Aarhus on Monday, March 9.

Elder of the family, 82 year old Poul, had brought relatives together from all over Denmark to mark the occasion with the idea that they could experience a culture that had come to life when the Yellow Emperor led the way for Chinese history 5,000 years ago.

The New York-based performance company, dedicated to reviving traditional Chinese culture, did not disappoint with the opening performance The Five Millennia Begin establishing the theme of the show.

Relative, Anne Mette Mortensen, who works at the university library, was very grateful for the opportunity to experience the show.

“I think the performers are good. You can tell the musicians are very skilled, she said.

Her daughter Anna was also present at the show. She was delighted, saying she particularly liked the beautiful Chinese music.

Another relative, Peter Andersen, Pouls brother, liked what he saw.

“It was good. Technically, it was amazing”

With regards to the dances, he referred to his wife.

“She knows more about those things. I’m more interested in the technical solutions, such as the backdrops,” Peter said.

The digital backdrops visually deepen of the stage. With their aid, many of the gods and Buddhas of Chinese lore become part of the show.

Another relative, Peder, felt the show was amazing and the dancing and the costumes made quite an impression on him.

“Everything was first class. I was very impressed”, he said.
