Over the weekend, DPA Touring Company completed a three-show tour at Brooklyn’s famed Brooklyn Academy of Music, DPA New York Company concluded four spirited shows in Ottawa, and DPA International Company wowed audiences with eight shows in Pasadena, Calif., from Dec. 30-Jan 4.
At the show last Saturday in Pasadena, actress Ms. Storey said, “I thought it was beautiful—really, really beautiful. I thought it was a great overview of the culture. I loved the dancing and the drums and the chopsticks. I loved the feeling of peace and the joining of all people together.”
Former opera singer Mr. Galbraith took in the show in Ottawa and said, “I like it very much, I am very partial to the colors. It’s a very vibrant scene ... You are getting a glimpse of the culture.” Mr. Galbraith went on to say that his favorite piece was “The Monkey King Triumphs,” a dance number based on a story from the popular Chinese folk tale “Journey to the West.”
The three DPA companies will continue build their momentum as they return to the New York metro area in three weeks to celebrate Chinese New Year on Jan. 26. They will stage shows in New Jersey, Westchester, and four performances at the New York City landmark theater, Radio City Music Hall in Manhattan.
