FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida—George T. and his wife, Carmen, came to the Divine Performing Arts show at Fort Lauderdale’s Broward Center for the Performing Arts because they like to see the arts and values of other cultures. Their expectations were more than met.
“It was very impressive,” said George. “It is something that should have been brought out sooner; we need to learn and understand new cultures. We are all kind of stuck in a rut, always seeing the same things. This is a real nice breath of fresh air.”
George couldn’t pick a favorite act. “There were so many different things—the drums, the flowers … I didn’t have a favorite song. I think all of them were perfect.”
George’s overall impression was, “The show just livens everything up.”
His wife was similarly pleased. “I loved it. It has been very impressive, very colorful, very educational. I think we all need to learn more about other cultures. We need to have more shows like this in the United States so people can learn about different cultures.”
With a focus on integrating the arts into education, the Broward Center for the Performing Arts has hit the mark by hosting Divine Performing Arts with its focus on authentic traditional Chinese culture.
The Broward Center lists as its “partners in the arts,” renowned organizations, including Broadway Across America, Concert Association of Florida, Florida Grand Opera, Gold Coast Jazz Society, Miami City Ballet, and Symphony of the Americas.
