Calvin Nicholls Phenomenal Paper Sculptures

Calvin Nicholls has been creating his amazing paper sculptures since the mid-1980’s from his studio north of Toronto, Canada.

Nicholls begins each piece with a drawing. He then meticulously cuts out all the different pieces he needs for the design, assembles them all together, and finally smooths out any rough parts and edges. Then he mounts his sculpture onto matting and finally brings it to life by photographing it with just the right lighting to show the sculpture’s depth and textures. See Nicholls’s website here.
