Years ago, Tammy Oswalt was forced to give her young son, Dylan, up for adoption. She had never met her son since then until Dylan reached out to his older sister, Sammy Hewett. Dylan was curious to know about his biological mother.
Sammy connected Tammy and Dylan, who began to rekindle their relationship through phone conversations. Tammy wanted to make her son comfortable before they met.
Time went by, and as their mother’s birthday was near, the siblings had something up their sleeves.
Sammy treated Tammy to a dinner on her birthday. She told her mother she had a surprise for her that money can’t even buy.
“I want you to meet your son Dylan,” Sammy told Tammy.
Hearing this, Tammy broke down. She covered her mouth in disbelief as she glanced at the boy lurking behind her back.
“Oh my god,” Tammy exclaimed, as Dylan came up to her, giving her a warm embrace. Tammy gave Dylan a kiss, and the two reconnected their bond formed 18 years ago.
This was a joyous reunion. Sammy cracked up at the beautiful sight, wishing the excited Tammy “Happy Birthday, Mom.”
Dylan then asked Tammy to sit down.
Apparently, Dylan bonded with Tammy, even though it was his first time meeting his biological mother in person. Hopefully, this is the start of a beautiful relationship and the family will make many memories in their road ahead.
Tammy shared the touching reunion on Facebook to encourage others who longed to reunite with their children and parents.
“If you are adopted watch a birth mother’s reaction to meeting her child almost 18 yrs later. Maybe you will want to reach out to your birth parents,” Tammy wrote.
“If you adopted your child out and hope to reunite some day do NOT give up that hope,” she added. “There is hope, love, understanding and acceptance sometimes when you may think there is none.”
