Johnny Harris was happy to hear that his wife Isabel was pregnant.
But he also worried about the financial aspect, and decided to find out how much their hospital costs would be.
He soon discovered that finding that out, though, was far from simple.
Harris made a video revealing the estimates he received varied so wildly that it was impossible to add them all up into a coherent figure or range.
So Harris instead zeroed in on the hospital at which his wife planned to give birth, but then found himself in a weeks-long maze of phone calls, voice messages, and being put on hold.
The couple got some good news in the end--their bill was thousands of dollars less than their insurance company stated originally--but they still were charged more than double what a hospital spokeswoman told them.
