SAN JOSE, Calif.—Shen Yun Performing Arts New York Company had their first performance of the weekend in San Jose on April 8, and many local VIPs were in attendance, including Dr. Marilyn Brock, President of Evergreen Valley College.

“I thought all the choreography was wonderful. The dancing was amazing. The dancers seemed to just flow,” commented Dr. Brock. Shen Yun Performing Arts has three companies of highly-trained dancers and singers who travel around the world bringing their remarkable style of classical Chinese dance to the audience.

Shen Yun was formed with a mission to reclaim and renew the true, divinely-inspired cultural heritage of China.

“I think this is a wonderful way to bring past culture and dancing and music and all of that back so that everyone in the world gets a chance to look at it and see it. So I’m glad you’re doing it,” Dr. Brock said.

She certainly knows about the importance of sharing cultural heritage with other groups of people. At her college, they “try to give everyone an opportunity to learn about their culture and learn about everyone else’s culture.”

Dr. Brock had been to China before, but didn’t have the opportunity to experience Shen Yun’s unique blend of dance, music, song, and imagery.

“I was in China four years ago, but this was the first time I’ve seen this kind of a production, so it was wonderful,” she said.

In fact, as the hosts of the show explain, this kind of performance cannot be seen inside mainland China, due to the restrictions put in place by the Chinese communist regime. Shen Yun Performing Arts is based in New York state, and includes top artists from around the world who are mostly ethnic Chinese.

“Thank you very much; I enjoyed it very much. Wonderful!” Dr. Brock concluded.
