Dear Kathy,

I ’m a senior this year in high school and I ’m freaked out about the SATs. I’m taking them really soon and if I don’t do well, I won’t get into a good college.

I should have studied a lot harder and now I’m practically out of time. I feel like just bailing on the test.

Sincerely,

“Barry”

Dear Barry,

I would like to share quotes with you from two great successes in life. Theodore Roosevelt said, Do what you can, with what you have, where you are. Thomas Edison is quoted as saying, Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.

You have succeeded in making it all the way through practically 12 years of schooling and you have set a high goal for yourself - a college education. Look straight ahead and keep on going, don’t quit now!

Learn from your mistakes and next time around, study earlier and harder. In the immortal words of Mike Ditka, You are never a loser until you quit trying.

Send an e-mail update to [email protected] and let us know where you'll be attending college in the fall!

Good luck,

Kathy
