Winners for the 2010 CMT Music Awards were announced as the ceremony took place in Nashville, Tennessee Wednesday night. Voting was held through the official CMT website.
2005 American Idol champion and country singer Carrie Underwood was the only nominee who took two awards home. With both the Video of the Year Award for her hit “Cowboy Casanova,” and the CMT Performance of the Year Award for her song “Temporary Home.” With the awards, Underwood becomes the top among American country singers.
When she accepted the awards she thanked her fans repeatedly. “Gold bless you guys. You are the best,” said the 27 year-old singer.
Country duo Brooks & Dunn won the award for Duo Video of the Year for their latest single “Indian Summer.” The award came much as a surprise for the duo, as it was recently announced that they would go on pursuing solo music careers.
Newly engaged Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton enjoyed the evening as Miranda received the Female Video of the Year Award and her fiance received the Collaborative Video Award together with Trace Adkins.
Keith Urban, the husband of Australian actress Nicole Kidman, was awarded the Male Video of the Year award for his song, “Til Summer Comes Around,” while Luke Bryan got the USA Weekend Breakthrough Video of the Year Award for “Do I.”
