WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y.—Authentic Chinese culture and history returned to Purchase, N. Y., on Sunday, Aug. 2, as the Shen Yun Performing Arts International Company performed to an eager audience at a packed house.

A new beginning was conveyed on the huge digital backdrop as a Buddha journeyed to the earth and onto the stage of the Performing Arts Center in Purchase College, State University of New York (SUNY).

Among the audience was Ms. Calvini, professor of cosmetology, who said the whole show was “gorgeous, incredible. I enjoyed it a lot.”

Ms. Calvini said, “I was very happy.” She had told her friend during the show that “it was wonderful, so incredible.”

Turning to her friend, she said, “You said you felt the energy …” and the friend responded, “Yes, I could feel the energy.”

Ms. Calvini said enthusiastically that this was the first time she had seen Shen Yun and she would encourage her friends to also see the show. “I would suggest them to come because of the spectacular like this. It is very important also for the love, the compassion from the heart.”

New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts will be performing two shows in Birmingham, Ala., on Aug. 21 and 22, at the Concert Hall, Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex. Then a five-run show will be held at Washington D.C.’s Kennedy Center Opera House from Aug. 26 to 30.
