The reason for this is that these quarters were printed over 1941 Canadian quarters.
So why does this tiny difference make for such an uptick in value? According to the item’s listing on Ebay, currency is minted with extreme quality control; the chances of finding an error are very rare.
Besides the ‘1941’ error, there is a lot of evidence on this 1970-S Proof Quarter that suggests it was minted over the 1941 Canadian Quarter, making it one of the most intriguing mint-proof errors ever.
