Canadian beaver pond
This is a familiar site across northern United States and Canada. A species once trapped to near extinction is now thriving and making beautiful ponds like the one above thanks to their crafty dam work.
This particular body of water is located in Ontario, Canada near North Bay, Ontario, which is about 250 miles north of Toronto. My dad and I were visiting a friend of his that lived at the end of a gravel road on Reynolds Lake at a quarry where they dig for granite.
It was about 20 miles down the road to the lake, so it was incredibly peaceful despite the noise from the quarry. We saw a black bear cross the road on the way from North Bay to the gravel road, so you know the area is remote. We spent a day fishing here before moving on to Samuel De Champlain Provincial Park where we camped for three nights before returning home to Chicago.
