A box of treasure covered in forest debris was hidden somewhere along a trail in Utah. With cryptic poetry scrawled on a faux parchment sheet hinting at the spot, a real live treasure hunt was set in motion. And the prize was open to all.

Fifty-one days in, a participant in Utah Treasure Hunt wept tears of joy after becoming $25,000 richer with the swipe of a hand. As Iowa woman Chelsea Gotta, 38, brushed away pine cones on the trail last Sunday, July 17, her hands bumped the nodules on the lid of a wooden chest.
