During the first half of the 1950s, Sid Caesar dominated American television. His Saturday night programs, “Your Show of Shows” and “Caesar’s Hour,” redefined sketch comedy with style and vigor. By the end of that decade, he was off the air due to declining ratings and changing audience tastes.

Upon his death in 2014, he was hailed as a comedy legend. However, his great talents were wasted for decades, as he could only secure small parts in his later years.
