MELBOURNE—People came from near and far to see the Shen Yun Performing Arts International Company at the Regent Theatre on March 2.

Two Vietnamese nuns, Kim and Tam, came from Sunbury, more than an hour away from Melbourne, and said they would have travelled even further to see Shen Yun if necessary.

Speaking through a translator, the two nuns said Shen Yun “was beautiful” and many more people should see it.

“A lot of Vietnamese people like this show,” said Kim. “Many, many people should come to see this show.”

Kim said she and Tam had left Vietnam ten years ago and could now practise their spiritual beliefs freely in Australia.

She said she enjoyed Shen Yun because of the quality of the production and the way the show referred to the Buddha.

“The Shen Yun dancing is beautiful and very nice,” she said, explaining that the movements were smooth and beautifully synchronised.

Shen Yun was important for people to see, Kim said, because it taught important values.

She commented on the contemporary scenes in Shen Yun, which depict Falun Gong practitioners enduring persecution for their beliefs in China. Their endurance is ultimately rewarded.

“It was very good,” she said, “because it teaches that bad people should not do that. It teaches them to be good people.”

Kim said she would bring many more people with her to see Shen Yun if the show visits Melbourne next year.

New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts has three touring companies that perform simultaneously around the world. The International Company is in Melbourne now for a six show run till Sunday, March 6. For more information, visit ShenYunPerformingArts.org
