Rochelle Currie lives and works in the realm of beauty. The 32-year-old resident of Melbourne, Australia, and founder of beauty brand Nila Botanics, not only wildcrafts and sells organic beauty products, but she also has a perceptive eye for beautiful moments in life.

Recently, she shared one of them on Instagram.

Just like most mothers, Currie knows that precious moments with growing children are fleeting—it is as if time sprouts wings and soars by. This is what she was thinking as she sat on her bed scrolling through old photos of her two young children, Willow and Arden. The photographs stirred her to tears, sparking one of her most priceless moments with her 2-year-old son, a “COVID baby” born just before the pandemic.

“I got very teary realizing how much they had grown in the last 2 years and had a moment of feeling the bittersweet notion of motherhood—time has wings and the moments really do pass by in the blink of an eye,” Currie told The Epoch Times.

At the time, Currie’s son, Arden, had been sitting with her on the bed playing with toys. Upon seeing his mother cry, Arden stopped what he was doing and reached up to wipe away his mother’s tears. The toddler exhorted her not to cry, to “be brave,” and then proceeded to prompt her into some breathing exercises.

“I couldn’t believe how wise and empathetic my son was. It was the most beautiful moment—it made me cry even more!” Currie said. “I felt a sense of pride that my beautiful son was growing into a kindhearted child, and I feel so honored to be his mother.”

Currie, who just had to capture the beautiful moment, posted the video on Instagram along with captions—enabling the observer to understand sweet little Arden’s comforting admonitions.

Interactions like this, it seems, are not unusual for the attentive toddler. The compassion that he demonstrated with his mother that day is something that adorns every one of his days. Currie relays how Arden always checks on his sister to see if she is okay when she is crying (“when they aren’t fighting” of course), and the overseers at his childcare describe him as the first one to comfort other children in need.

Born in September 2019, Arden spent his first couple of years in isolation—with the world around him in lockdown—like so many young children born just prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. He was not always so socially affable. During his first outings after the pandemic, he was anxious and hesitant about meeting other people. That has all gone away.

“He has grown into a social butterfly,” Currie said. “He loves people, he is so kind and empathetic. He is always caring for other people and if anyone is upset, he will be the first to comfort them and see if they are ok. He truly is a beautiful soul.”

As their sweet video interaction shows, Arden and his mother share a close bond. Currie, who grew up with a sister and was nervous about raising a little boy, now says: “There’s a saying I have read about children—‘God knew my heart needed you’—and that is exactly how I would describe my bond with Arden.

“There have been so many difficult times have faced personally in the last 2 years and he has always brought a sense of peace to my heart—to our whole family, really. He is definitely a mummy’s boy!”

The little man is not all grown up yet, although it is tempting to awe at his empathy at such a young age. Currie says he loves to run, throw balls, sing, dance, and, just like his mother, is a “chocoholic.” Between his puzzles, talking about dinosaurs, learning about the solar system and counting to 10 in French, Arden is bringing his mother gorgeous moments that she will cherish always.

“We have received so much kindness and I just love that Arden is spreading joy and kindness in the world!” she said.
