“Now it’s your time,” Usher announced to Bieber on stage. Before the two performed, Bieber’s audition tape rolled in 2007 before Usher helped him sign to Island Def Jam in 2008.

Bieber performed an acoustic variant of his song “Baby,” and ninjas with drums walked down the aisle. Jaden Smith, the son of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, also came on and rapped.

Usher then came back on and the duo performed “OMG” with synchronized dance moves.

Bieber was nominated for Best New Artist but Esperanza Spalding took the award instead.

“I wish Justin had won,” Usher said, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Usher won a Best Contemporary R&B Album Grammy for his album Raymond V Raymond and won a Grammy for best male R&B Vocal Performance for “There Goes My Baby.”

Eminem and Dr. Dre, in another performance featuring a teacher and protege, performed “I Need A Doctor,” the upcoming single from Dre’s long-awaited Detox album.
