When characters in TV shows and movies become physically ill in public places, a concerned citizen sometimes asks, “Is there a doctor in the house?” Every now and then, the doctor in the crowd hesitates for various reasons. Perhaps he feels unqualified to provide care for the distressed person. But though he momentarily wrestles with the dilemma, he ultimately offers to help.
When musician and veteran Justin Gambino walked through the doors of a chapel while stationed in Iraq, he faced a similar situation. Though he grew up in a faith-filled household, it had been years since he attended service. During his teenage years, he began associating with a crowd that had a negative impact on his life. By the time he was 18, he stood in front of a judge for sentencing for a theft charge that made jail time a possibility.
